For the first time, the Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting called for advertisement designs for the 68th Independence Day from the citizens of the country. In real terms, public participation in the process of preparing the advertisement design was initiated and through this crowd sourcing citizens were encouraged to submit their designs.
The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity issued an advertisement in this regard on the 18th June, 2014. On the call of designs, the citizens not only showed keen interest but around 1000 citizens participated in the exercise.
For the selection of advertisement an independent selection committee consisting field experts, artists and academicians was constituted and the independent selection committee shortlisted 10 advertisements.
Out of ten shortlisted advertisements, three designs were adjudicated the best and as a result all of three were published in various newspapers of all indian langauages across the country. The remaining seven designs were chosen for the consolation prize.
The top three advertisements were given Rs Fifteen thousand each as a cash reward along with a letter of appreciation from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, similarly, the remaining seven were also given a cash prize of Rs three thousand only each along with the letter of appreciation
The list of the winners inlcude top three Gajanan Ghongde (Akola, Maharashtra), Sajal Karmakar (New Delhi) and Raghvender Pratap Singh (New Delhi) whereas next seven included Janaki Ramesh (Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh), Revell Perfect Media Solutions (Pune, Maharashtra), Bindu (Tilak Nagar, New Delhi), M. Muthu (Gummidi Poondi, Thiruvallur District Tamil Nadu), Suhas K. Jagtap (Pune, Maharastra), D. Ramesh (Coimbatore, Tamilnadu), J. Raju (Hyderabad)
