The Directorate of Education of Government of NCT of Delhi has taken an initiative to create a link ‘DGS Alumni’ (Delhi Government School Alumni) on the Directorate’s website www.edudel.nic.in in order to network with other such ex-students of government schools who are occupying respectable positions in different spheres of society. So far more than 400 alumni have registered themselves at the link. This was informed by Director, Education Mrs. Padmini Singla here today.Director, Education said that it will be a wonderful opportunity for the entire like-minded citizens who got their education in government schools, succeeded in their careers and now are in a position to do something for their school. “I am a proud product of a Government school myself. It struck me that it would be a good idea to provide a common platform to all the alumni of government schools where they can come together and contribute in their own ways for their beloved alma maters” she further added.On the same way, the alumni of ‘Shakti Nagar No.1 Government Boys School has formed an association named ‘Shakti Nagar No.1 Old Boys Association’ (SHOBA). The Association had donated two water coolers, two air conditioners to the school and recently has created a Smart Class at the cost of around Rs. Nine lakh. The School Principal Shri R.A. Verma has also contributed Rs. One lakh for the same cause.During a visit to the school, the Chief Secretary, Delhi Sh. S.K.Srivastava also lauded the efforts made by Sh. Verma in pooling the resources for the school by bringing together its old students on one platform. One of the ex-student of the school, who is now an AGM rank officer in a nationalized bank, played an important role to provide the furniture and furnishings worth about 30 lac rupees to the school.The alumni of the school is also planning to create a fund of Rs. One crore for the welfare of students of the school. The Persons like Sh. Vijender Gupta (Ex-President, BJP Delhi Unit), Sh. Ajay Sharma (former Cricketer), Sh. Surinder Khanna (former Cricketer), Sh. Mukesh Khullar (IAS), Sh. Arvind Kumar (IAS), Sh. Sandeep Goyal (IPS) are amongst the alumni of the school. Sh. Anil Parasher (Advocate), Sh. Anil Mantri (Engineer), Sh.
