Ambedkar: hero-worship:Indian journalism

Indian journalism is all that plus something more. It is written by drum-boys to glorify their heroes. Never has the interest of country been sacrificed so senselessly for the propagation of hero-worship. Never has hero-worship become so blind as we see it in India today. There are, I am glad to say, honourable exceptions. But they are too few, and their voice is never heard.

भारतीय पत्रकारिता ज्यों दिखती है, उससे कुछ अधिक है। इसे ढोल पीटने वाले अपने नायकों को महिमामंडित करने के लिए कलम घिसते हैं । नायक पूजा के प्रचार के लिए कभी भी देशहित को इतनी बेवकूफी से दांव पर नहीं लगाया गया । कभी भी भारत में नायक पूजा इतनी अंधी नहीं बनी जितना आज हम भारत में देख रहे हैं । मुझे यह बात कहते हुए खुशी है कि इसके अपवाद भी हैं । पर ऐसों की संख्या बहुत कम है और उनकी आवाज कभी सुनी नहीं जाती ।
